Our Beliefs

Mission Statement & Beliefs

Introduction:

In its beginnings LWC formulated a mission statement.

It has been condensed to four primary statements that compose the LWC mission.

1. Believe – We believe that Jesus is the Light of the World and brings abundant life to all who believe. It is our responsibility not only to believe, but to cause others to believe.

Light of the World – “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12 KJV)

Abundant Life – “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (John 10:10 KJV)

We believe – “And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.” (1 John 3:23 KJV)

“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” (Mat 5:14 KJV)

Cause others to believe – “And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere. {16} Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16:15-16 NLT)

2. Live – We live the lifestyle and teachings of Jesus as a witness to our family, our community, and our world.

Live the lifestyle and teachings of Jesus – He is our example.

“Live in such a way that God’s love can bless you as you wait for the eternal life that our Lord Jesus Christ in his mercy is going to give you.” (Jude 1:21 NLT)

“For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:” (1 Pet 2:21 KJV)

“If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. {15} For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.” (John 13:14-15 KJV)

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (Gal 2:20 KJV)

As a witness –“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem (at home), and in all Judaea (in your area) , and in Samaria (in other areas close by), and unto the uttermost part of the earth (foreign missions) .” (Acts 1:8 KJV)

3. Love –We love and embrace all believers and seekers as family. We love the unsaved and are willing to lay down our lives to bring them Jesus.

Love all believers and seekers as family –

“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. {35} By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (John 13:34-35 KJV)

“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. {8} He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” (1 John 4:7-8 KJV)

Love the unsaved – “My heart is filled with bitter sorrow and unending grief {3} for my people, my Jewish brothers and sisters. I would be willing to be forever cursed–cut off from Christ!–if that would save them.” (Rom 9:2-3 NLT)

4. Worship – We worship God in the fullness of the Holy Spirit in all that we say and do. Worship is the key to Abundant Life in Christ

Worship God – “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. {2} Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: {3} Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; {4} Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;” (Psa 103:1-4 KJV)

What is true worship? “But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Obedience is far better than sacrifice. Listening to him is much better than offering the fat of rams.” (1 Sam 15:22 NLT)

In the fullness of the Holy Spirit  – “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.” (John 4:23 KJV)

In all that we say and do – “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. {2} Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. {3} Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. {4} Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. {5} For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.” (Psa 100 KJV)

Abundant Life – “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (John 10:10 KJV)“In him is life; and that life is the light of men.” John 1:4
